Territory

Isola della Scala, City of Rice, the cradle of rice paddies for centuries

It is due to the natural predisposition of the territory, with an abundance of flat, extremely fertile land bathed by limpid spring waters, that the first rice paddies were created in the Verona area hundreds of years ago. Over the years, skilful farming has ensured that the special nature of this land, at 20 km south of Verona, has remained unchanged to this day. Isola della Scala, known as the City of Rice, has been devoted to the cultivation of this prized cereal for centuries.
